However, some research shows that moving, especially the transition to a new school, may lead to depressive symptoms in a child. This is, of course, only a possibility. Though research shows a connection between moving and depression in children, that doesnt mean that every child will be impacted by a move in this way. You have to make decisions that are right for you and your family and that might just be making a move. Fortunately, there are a few things that you can do to ensure a smooth transition for your child and happy life in your new home. Factors That May Impact Your Child When You Move Sometimes the details of a move are non-negotiable, but if there is some flexibility in your situation, there are a few factors that can make the transition easier for your child. Changing Schools Whenever possible, keep your child at the same school or a school in the same district. Research has found that moving schools can be particularly difficult for children in the elementary and middle school years. If your child has previously fallen behind academically, moving to a more advanced curriculum may overwhelm themâ"or even cause them to fall further behind. For a child, academic failure can be devastating to self-esteem. Low self-esteem is common among depressed children. Changing schools may have lasting effects on children. Research has found that kids who moved frequently have fewer quality relationships as adults.?? They also tend to have less life satisfaction and lower overall well-being. If Divorce Is the Reason for Your Move If you are moving as the result of a divorce or other family restructuring, you will need to be especially sensitive to your childs needs and feelings. Your child will not only be adjusting to a new home and environment but a new family structure. A move combined with a change in the family could be traumatic for a child and trigger feelings of insecurity, isolation, or anger, which are often seen in depression. Keeping to your childs current routine, as much as possible, may help keep a sense of stability in their life. Keeping Old Friends While it is important for your child to make new friends in their new environment, it is also important for them to maintain old friendships. Allow your child to communicate and see their old friends whenever possible. One study found that children who were introverted were more likely to experience lasting negative effects, possibly because introverted children have a more difficult time forming relationships and moving creates major disruptions in close relationships.?? The more relationships that your child has, the more they will feel supported and confident in their ability to make new friends. A child who has no peers to connect with may begin to withdraw from school and social activities. Mental Health Concerns Children who have had previous mental health concerns, especially depression, are more likely to have another period of depression. Research suggests that moving is a significant life stressor for children.?? Moving schools can be as traumatic as having a parent hospitalized for a serious medical illness. Some children, especially those with a past mental illness, are prone to depression as a result of stress. Be on alert for signs and symptoms and consider speaking with your childs therapist about a care plan before you leave. You may also want to ask for a referral to a new provider in your new town. How to Spot Depression in a Child How Parents Can Be Proactive Joining local groups and reaching out to new people will show your child that they are not alone in starting over. Allow your child to openly talk about their feelings about the move and be sympathetic to their fears. Also, be sure to not to let your own anxiety about the move scare your child. If you know that your move will come with additional stressors, consider starting your child in counseling. This could be especially helpful if theyve experienced past episodes of depression. When It May Be Depression Unfortunately for some children, the stress of a move may trigger symptoms of depression. As such, parents should be aware of the symptoms in children, which may include: Withdrawal from friends and familyUnexplained cryingClinging to a parentFeelings of guiltLoss of interest in things of former interestAcademic declineThoughts or actions of self-harmPersistent unexplained physical complaints (e.g., headaches, stomachaches)Appetite and/or weight changesSleeping problems It is normal for a child to be nervous about a move. They may need more attention and reassurance for the first few weeks of the transition. They may even have a brief disturbance of sleep, which should return to normal without treatment in several days. If you notice any symptoms of depression or new or unexplained behaviors in your child, it is important to consult with your childs physician. A physician can determine a cause and treatment, if appropriate. It is extremely important to identify and treat depression early in children. What Parents Should Know About Childhood Depression

False Memory - 2086 Words
False Memory and Your Imagination Diana Bunch PSY 511 False Memory and Your Imagination The power of suggestion or through a vivid imagination are just a couple ways that psychological research has shown ways in which false memories are created. A false memory is an untrue or distorted reminiscence of an event that did not actually happen. In reality, memory is very susceptible to error. People can feel completely assured that their memory is accurate, but this assurance is no guarantee that a specific memory is correct. Existing knowledge and other memories can affect the creation of a new memory, causing the memory of an event to be mistaken or entirely false. Memory researcher Elizabeth Loftus (1997) has demonstrated through herâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The overall conclusion of this study indicate that the critical factor in determining the effect of divided attention on false memory is the manner in which memory is tested. This divided attention can affect adults and children through the false memory phenomena. Otgaar, Peters, and Howe (2012) conducted a study to examine the impact of divided attention on childrenââ¬â¢s and adultsââ¬â¢ neutral and negative true and false memories in the DRM paradigm. They expected all participants to falsely recall more neutral false memories than negative ones. It was also predicted that divided attention would affect childrenââ¬â¢s and adultsââ¬â¢ false memories differently; particularly that dividing attention should decrease childrenââ¬â¢s false memories. Participants included 78 seven year olds, 48 eleven year olds, and 52 young adults around the age of twenty-one. Results found that divided attention significantly affected childrenââ¬â¢s and adultsââ¬â¢ false recall in opposite ways. Specifically, with children when attention was divided, false memories decreased whereas with adults, dividing attention increased false memory levels. From all the above stated research thus far, it can easily be suggested that false memories stemming in childhood are carried over into adulthood. Due to the nature of this, research has also been conducted in an attempt to reverse the effects. Militarized Women Free Essays
ââ¬Å"On any given Friday or Saturday night, Korean women prostitutes hang out outside club doors soliciting GIs. Korean women stroll up and down Hooker Hill, approaching young GIs and asking them, ââ¬Å"Ladyâ⬠After asking the women how much and how old, they follow the Korean girls up the hill and down an alley.â⬠While interviewing a GI friend stationed in Osan, Korea, this is an excerpt of his short story about military prostitution in Korea. We will write a custom essay sample on Militarized Women or any similar topic only for you Order Now This not only happens in Korea, but all over the world where military bases are located. This type of prostitution has a history that is traced back to the 1900â⬠³s and not many people are aware of it. Following are the facts and history of this horrid trend: The Ordinance for the National Labor Service Corps that was issued in November of 1941, opened the door for them to use women between 14 and 24 years old for up to 30 days a year. Today in South Korea, ianfu also known as military comfort women, is an expression for those women who were forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military. Since the 1910â⬠³s Korean women had always been preyed upon, so they could be sold to Japanese brothels. The ianfu system grew from this background, and the state and the military voluntarily joined in for the pursuit and control of these women. The total number of ianfu was estimated at 100,000 to 200,000, and almost 80% of them were believed to be Korean. The ianfu system was believed to have been set up after the Shanghai incident in January 1932. It was a small military conflict between Japan and China after Japans invasion of Manchuria. During this conflict, many cases of rape of local women by Japanese soldiers were reported. This made Lieutenant General Yasuji Okamura to request the Governor of Nagasaki to send some women to comfort their soldiers. After the ianfus arrived, their were no more reported cases of rape. Because of this, troops nowadays almost always bring a group of ianfu with them. The military calculated the number of ianfu needed and sought out Korean women in their late teens or twenties, convincing them that they would be taking care of soldiers. The management of military brothels was handled by the military. Non-military members were not allowed to use these brothels. Military surgeons conducted the necessary periodic medical examinations of ianfu for venereal diseases, and condoms were giving to soldiers by the military to stop the spreading of venereal diseases. At these brothels, rules by the military were posted. The military provided food and medical needs and even sent them letters of gratitude. The following is an example set of rules for brothels made by the military: 1. ââ¬Å"Military brothels do not admit anyone other than Army soldiers and gonzukus and visitors are required to show their brothel permit. 2. Visitors must pay service charges at the reception counter and in return receive and entrance ticket and a condom. 3. Service charges are as follows: 2.00 yen for non-commissioned officers, soldiers, and civilian employees. 4. Those having bought a ticket can enter a designated room, with a time limit of 30 minutes. 5. The ticket should be handed to the ianfu upon entering the room. 6. When finished, leave the room quickly. 7. Those violating rules or disturbing military morals will be forced to leave. 8. Do not touch ianfu without a condomâ⬠¦The Headquarter of the East Commissariat.â⬠Looking at these rules, it indicates that the military was in no doubt involved in the management of these horrible brothels. China, Southeast Asia, the South Seas Islands, and Japan, everywhere the Japanese military went, the military brothels followed. When the war was eventually turned against Japan and the troops were forced to leave, some ianfu were left behind, some were forced to fight with soldiers until they died, and others were killed by the Japanese military. It is undeniable that the Japanese military managed these brothels, not the troops individually, but the army as a whole collected the ianfu to deal with the sexual needs of soldiers, and that the army ruined the dignity of the ianfu as women as well as human beings. They inflicted incurable pains on them, exposed them to venereal diseases, and endangered their health. Eventually, as these ianfus became a burden, they were either abandoned or disposed of as if they were nothing. After explaining how these women were forced into sexual slavery and the history behind it, the following is my analysis and opinions on this matter. These women were treated not as human beings but as ââ¬Å"public toilets.â⬠They were sometimes forced to service as many as a hundred soldiers a day. About 100,000 to 200,000 womenâ⬠s self esteem, dignity, personality, and ethnic pride were severely wounded through long and daily abuse. Reading all this, many questions come to mind with anger, such as: Why has this all been kept in secrecy until recently? or How can the military, a strong form of government, let this happen to women? Currently there is no answer to these, but hopefully by writing this paper, it will educate more people about this issue, which is the first step in anything. These are problems limited only to women of less powerful countries. Sexual assaults GIs make against women is a clear violation of human rights. Being assaulted by a group of men called soldiers is an unspoken terror that is inflicted upon us women. The primary purpose of the military is to destruct and kill the bad, but all they were really doing was creating evil. Being raped is a womanâ⬠s worst nightmare. It invades our body, mind and soul leaving us feeling used and worthless. Women often put the blame on themselves, maybe for dressing too tight or too short, or for acting promiscuous, but in reality it has nothing to do with the way women act. The offender holds all blame. In reading one of the articles called, ââ¬Å"Violation of Human Rights against Korean Women and Children by the United States Forces in Korea, it reads ââ¬Å"To evade problems, Japanese claim that they have given comfort women military scripâ⬠s, also known as U.S dollars or PX goods during War IIâ⬠¦ We must look at this as an exploitation of womenâ⬠s sex; in other words, it is offenders sly intention to transform an act of rape to that of prostitution and pass over their responsibilities to victimized women.â⬠Is the giving of money or gifts suppose to lessen the pain? The soldiers are defending themselves by putting the blame on the victimized w omen, resulting in the woman feeling guilty. I can recall discussing this topic in section and talking about how many times the offender uses this strategy in protecting himself from the consequences. What I want to talk about is the effect that this type of prostitution has on women, and in ways that women and children can be trapped in it, in fact are often prepared for it as children. Back during the Korean War when Korean women were being used as ianfu, the women eventually had children from these soldiers. These children, made out of wedlock, were raised in this environment and soon enough became the norm. When the child reached the age of 15, she was often taken from her family to join a group of soldiers to serve as an ianfu. If the child happened to be a male, he was subject to be drafted into the military and use women for prostitution, it was an ongoing cycle. The everyday life of a prostitute is probably distant for many of us. Even our imagination could not make us feel the disgusting events that these women have suffered. It is like this: Negotiate a price with the stranger. Agree to it. Pull down pants. Come and take me until theyâ⬠re done. Finished. Next Please. It becomes too ugly to take it in. We all know that this is a male dominated world. It stems from history, issues such as military prostitution and women slavery all indicate that the dominant gender is man. Although women have more rights than they did a century ago, women are still constantly struggling to find their place either in the home or work force. With these type of problems still occurring, discrimination against women will not end. Male dominance is a political system. Money is in no doubt directly tied to gender. Many of the Korean women used as prostitutes were from streets and poor families trying to find jobs that would feed their family. So when the military offered them a job as care takers of soldiers, they immediate jumped at the opportunity. It is assumed that women are not suppose to have money, because when women have money, then women can make choices. One of these choices that women can make is not to be with men. If the women make the choice not to be with men, then men will be deprived of the sex that men feel they have the right to. This is the foundation of male dominance. In conclusion, this paper has raised many issues involving women, especially in the military. When I received this research paper as my final paper for my Womenâ⬠s Studies class, I began to think about all the options that I could write about. Topics such as; abortion, eating disorders, sexual violence, incest, and even that of prostitution, but I wanted it to have more of a twist. I remember talking to one of my good friends who is an enlisted officer in the USAF, who in stationed Korea and he told me about what GIs did to entertain themselves. Back to the story in the beginning, I decided to expand on it because I believe that many people do not know that this goes on. I can not even remotely describe how in disbelief I was when I did more research. I came across material that I would never know existed. In doing this research paper, I hope to educate more women about this type of prostitution and raise awareness that the military is involved. Women should not be treated as objects, and more like human beings. How to cite Militarized Women, Essay examples

Insomnia A Sleeping Disorder Type
Insomnia is a sleeping disorder where an individual is unable to fall or remain asleep satisfactorily or even both. Characteristics of insomnia include; lack of rest, reduced sleeping time, disturbed or lack of sleep. Poor quality sleep can be perceived as a result of difficulties in falling asleep, high frequency of waking up during the night making it difficulty to return to sleep and complete failure to fall asleep (Lacks Morin 586).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Insomnia: A Sleeping Disorder Type specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Insomnia can not be regarded as a disease. However, it is classified depending on the duration of time it occurs. Insomnia is classified into two: acute and chronic insomnia. Acute insomnia lasts for a short time and it occurs in two types; transient and short term insomnia. There are two types of chronic insomnia: primary chronic insomnia and secondary chronic insomnia (Lacks Mor in 586). Causes of insomnia can be classified into two; factors contributing to acute insomnia and chronic insomnia. Stress is one of the factors which can interfere with sleep. Stress may be as a result of loss of a loved one, change of job or losing a job. Health problems are perceived to cause insomnia. These problems include ulcers and diabetes. Lack of physical or emotional comfort can contribute to acute insomnia (Lacks Morin 586). An example of emotional discomfort is anger or anxiety. Environmental factors can interfere with normal sleep. For example, extreme heat or cold, noise and light. Interfering with normal sleeping routine can also cause insomnia because of altering with body clock. Chronic insomnia can be as a result of emotional stress. It can be difficult for the mind to rest when an individual is thinking about the affairs of life. Abusing substance can contribute to the occurrence of chronic insomnia. For example, high blood pressure drugs can cause insomnia (La cks Morin 586). Taking substances with caffeine and nicotine also can interfere with sleep. Alteration of normal body routines can cause chronic insomnia. These activities include irregular sleeping patterns like partying till late at night and extended siesta time. Lastly, environmental factors can contribute to chronic insomnia. Extreme heat or cold, too much light and noise have a great impact on sleep (Lacks Morin 586). Insomnia is more common with women and older adults. Change imbalance in hormones when a woman is pregnant or having menstrual period can interfere with sleep. After giving birth women tend to have less sleep because of the noise produced by babies (Lacks Morin 586).Advertising Looking for essay on psychology? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Older adults have difficult in getting and maintaining a good sleep. It also noted that they tend to wake up very early (Lacks Morin 586). The exact cause of the sl eeping difficulties is unclear. Alteration of normal body routines change as an individual grows old thus causing them to wake up frequently. The main treatment for insomnia is behavioral therapy which includes activities like exercising regularly, meditation and breathing and relaxation techniques. Regular exercise helps the body to relax, and improves the quality of sleep by reducing stress and worries of life. Exercise increases stimulation of the body during the day thus making the body relax at night (Lacks Morin 586). Afternoon or evening jogging is recommended. It is also advisable to exercise 3 or4 times in a week for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Walking is also highly recommended because it enhances heartbeat rate and impacts on lung capacity. Breathing and relaxation techniques ease stress and enhance relaxation. Deep and slow breathing helps the body relax especially the chest, shoulders and the arms (Lacks Morin 586). Lastly, meditation helps in promotion of relaxation. It reduces anxiety and stress because it encourages positive thoughts (Lacks Morin 586). Works Cited Lacks, Paul. Learn Chemistry - A Guide to Basic Concepts
Learn Chemistry - A Guide to Basic Concepts Chemistry is a logical science. You can master the essential concepts yourself. You can study these concepts in any order, but its probably best to start from the top and work your way downà since many concepts build on understanding units, conversion, and how atoms and molecules interact. Key Takeaways: How to Learn Chemistry Its possible to learn the basic concepts of chemistry online.Chemistry concepts should be studied in a logical order because concepts build upon each other. Jumping into the middle of the science can lead to confusion. While its fine to learn chemistry principles online, be aware that the lab component is an important part of the science. Its a good idea to supplement textbook learning with experiments using a chemistry kit. Introduction to Chemistry: Learn about what chemistry is, what chemists do, and why you would want to study this science.Units Measurements: Get a handle on the metric system and the common units used in chemistry. The Scientific Method: Scientists, including chemists, are systematic about the way they study the world. Find out how to use the scientific method to collect data and design experiments. The Elements: Elements are basic building blocks of matter. Learn what an element is and get facts for them. The Periodic Table: The periodic table is a way elements can be organized, based on their similar properties. Find out what that table is, how it was designed, and how you can use it to make your study of chemistry much easier.Atoms and Ions: Atoms are single units of an element. Ions can be made up of one or more types of elements and carry an electrical charge. Learn about the parts of an atom and how to identify the different types of ions.Molecules, Compounds, Moles: Atoms can b e joined together to make molecules and compounds. A mole is a useful way of measuring an amount of atoms or larger components of matter. Define these terms and learn how to perform calculations to express quantities. Chemical Formulas: Atoms and ions dont bond together randomly. Find out how to predict how many of one type of atom or ion will combine with others. Learn to name compounds.Chemical Reactions Equations: Just as atoms and ions combine in very specific ways, molecules and compounds react with each other in definite quantities. Learn how to tell whether or not a reaction can occur and what the products of a reaction will be. Write balanced chemical equations to describe reactions.Thermochemistry: Chemistry is the study of both matter and energy. Once you learn to balance the atoms and charge in a chemical reaction, you can examine the energy of the reaction as well.Electronic Structure: Electrons are found in regions around the nucleus of an atom. Learning about the structure of the electron shell or electron cloud is important for understanding how atoms and ions will form bonds.Chemical Bonds: The atoms in a molecule or compound are attracted and repelled with respect to each other i n ways that determine the types of bonds they can form. Molecular Structure: Once you understand the types of bonds that can be formed between components in a substance, you can begin to predict and understand how molecules are formed and the shapes they take. Valence shell electron pair repulsion (VSEPR) theory helps chemists understand molecular structure.Liquids Gases: Liquids and gases are phases of matter with properties distinctly different from the solid form. Collectively, liquids and gases are termed fluids. The study of fluids and how they interact is important for understanding the properties of matter and predicting the ways in which that matter can react.Rates of Reaction: Several factors affect how quickly and completely a reaction proceeds. Learn about these factors and how to calculate the speed at which a reaction can occur.Acids Bases: There are several ways to define acids and bases. One way is to look at hydrogen ion concentration. No matter which method you choose, these categories of chemicals participate in some v ery important reactions. Learn about acids, bases, and pH. Oxidation Reduction: Oxidation and reduction reactions go hand in hand, which is why they are also called redox reactions. Acids and bases may be thought of as reactions involving hydrogen or protons, while redox reactions tend to be concerned with electron gain and loss.Nuclear Reactions: Most chemical reactions involve exchanges of electrons or atoms. Nuclear reactions are concerned with what happens inside the nucleus of an atom. This includes radioactive decay, fission, and fusion.

Definition and Examples of Content (Lexical) Words
Definition and Examples of Content (Lexical) Words In English grammar and semantics, aà content word is aà word that conveys information in a text or speech act. Also known as a lexical word, lexical morpheme,à substantive category, or contentive.à Contrast withà function wordà or grammatical word. In his book The Secret Life of Pronouns (2011), social psychologist James W. Pennebaker expands this definition: Content words are words that have a culturally shared meaning in labeling an object or action. . . . Content words are absolutely necessary to convey an idea to someone else. Content words- which include nouns, lexical verbs, adjectives, and adverbs- belong to open classes of words: that is, new members are readily added. The denotation of a content word, sayà Kortmann and Loebner, is the category, or set, of all its potential referents (Understanding Semantics, 2014). Examples and Observations All morphemes can be divided into the categories lexical [content] and grammatical [function]. A lexical morpheme has a meaning that can be understood fully in and of itself- {boy}, for example, as well as {run}, {green}, {quick}, {paper}, {large}, {throw}, and {now}. Nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs are typical kinds of lexical morphemes. Grammatical morphemes, on the other hand- such as {of}, {and}, {the}, {ness}, {to}, {pre}, {a}, {but}, {in}, and {ly}- can be understood completely only when they occur with other words in a sentence. (Thomas E. Murray, The Structure of English. Allyn and Bacon, 1995)Reverend Howard Thomasà was the presiding elder over a district inà Arkansas, which includedà Stamps. (Maya Angelou,à I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Random House, 1969)Most people with low self-esteem have earned it. (George Carlin, Napalm Silly Putty. Hyperion, 2001)Theà odorà of fish hung thick in the air. (Jack Driscoll,à Wanting Only to Be Heard. University of Massachusetts Press, 1995) Liberal and conservative have lost their meaning in America. I represent the distracted center. (Jon Stewart) Function Words vs. Content Words Grammatical words [function words] tend to be short: they are normally of one syllable and many are represented in spelling by less than three graphemes (I, he, do, on, or). Content words are longer and, with the exception of ox and American Englishs ax, are spelt with a minimum of three graphemes. This criterion of length can also be extended to the production of the two sets of words in connected speech. Here grammatical words are often unstressed or generally de-emphasised in pronunciation. (Paul Simpson, Language Through Literature. Routledge, 1997) All languages make some distinction between content words and function words.à Content words carry descriptive meaning; nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs are types of content word. Function words are typically little words, and they signal relations between parts of sentences, or something about the pragmatic import of a sentence, e.g. whether it is a question. Lewis Carrolls Jabberwocky poem illustrates the distinction well: Twas brillig, and the slithy tovesDid gyre and gimble in the wabe:All mimsy were the borogoves,And the mome raths outgrabe. In this poem all the made-up words are content words; all the others are function words. In English, function words include determiners, such as the, a, my, your, pronouns (e.g. I, me, you, she, them), various auxiliary verbs (e.g. have, is, can, will do), coordinating conjunctions (and, or, but), and subordinating conjunctions (e.g. if, when, as, because). Prepositions are a borderline case. They have some semantic content, but are a small closed class, allowing hardly any historical innovation. Some English prepositions serve a mainly grammatical function, like of (what is the meaning of of?) and others have clear descriptiveà (and relational) content, like under.à New content words in a language canà be readily invented; new nouns, in particular, are continually being coined, and new verbs (e.g. Google, gazump) and adjectives (e.g. naff, grungy) also not infrequently come into use. The small set of function words in a language, by contrast, is much more fixed and relatively steady over centuries. (James R. Hurford, Theà Origins of Language: A Slim Guide.à Oxford University Press, 2014) Content Words in Speech Typically, the prominent syllable in a tone unit will be a content word (e.g. a noun or verb) rather than a function word (e.g. a preposition or article), since content words carry more meaning than function words. Function words will only be stressed if prominence on them is contextually warranted. (Charles F. Meyer, Introducing English Linguistics. Cambridge Universityà Press, 2010)

The Smartest Kids in the World; Amanda Ripley Essay
The Smartest Kids in the World; Amanda Ripley - Essay Example The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMS) is another education policy that mainly focuses on less work problems and more on the subject specific knowledge and the skills that the school teaches the student during the learning process. Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study is a policy that does not concern whether the student can be able to apply their scientific and mathematical knowledge in the real life situation while Program on International Student Assessment has no concern in either measuring the studentââ¬â¢s skill needed to succeed in their college education nor to engage in technical professions. Therefore, schools use both policies in their education system as they complement each other and will improve the educational outcome in schools (Ripley, 2013). According to Ripley (2013) Korea, Finland and Poland employ PISE as the education policy in their schools and this kind of system is seen as the reason behind their production of some of the best students in the world. This system brings out the argument that, tracking students, that is placing the kids in gifted classes at an early age so that they can be able to know what exactly their career holds for them, tends to diminish the learning process in schools boosting inequality to places where it was implemented. It is said when this kind of education system is applied, the students who were in the higher performing classes began to think of themselves as less gifted hence lowering their self esteem while surprisingly those in the lower performing classes in this kind of education policy developed a positive mentality about themselves in turn building on their self esteem.

Entrepreneural business concept Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Entrepreneural business concept - Essay Example Thus the agency has to have quality experienced social health based workers in addition to the fully certified nurses, personal attendants and some professional in physical and physiological health. The agency will give assistance for basic recuperation after the patient has been examined by the doctors. We shall plan to attend to the needs of that person such as cleaning, feeding, and administering the medication that patients have been administered (Braveman & Christina12). The opportunity also allows for use of expertise we shall have for doing first aid emergency calls on patients. If the discord suffered is easily manageable, we can attend to that issue. Concept statement Recovering from an incident if ill health is a great miracle that some of us take for granted. Managing to get support as the person is recuperating after having being treated is often a role many hospitals leave to the patients relatives. What happens if the person is elderly does not have parents or relatives living nearby and all neighbors are busy? With the huge population of many areas, it is even is hard for the available Medicare facilities to cater for all patients needs until they are fully well. This is the basis of the agency of home healthcare services. In so doing, the patients are sure that they shall continue to receive the professional monitoring for medical compliance hence recovering fully quickly. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Introduction From the concept statement, it is clear there is need for an organization that will cater for the needs of all persons irrespective of their social status (Braveman & Christina 21). Therefore, introducing an organization that caters for the needs of these people who require plenty of attention and care is the driving force to establish a home care clinic. The clinic to be catering for these needs is Medicare Recovery services. The opportunity at hand is establishing a community based healthcare facility that will help in decongesting the few avai lable local and district as well as national hospitals. It is also to help the patients in cutting down the costs incurred while pursuing health services and accessing them with very minimal interference. A healthy patientââ¬â¢s recovering needs are significant for ensuring that the patient does not suffer relapse. Hence even as these patients are released from the established hospitals, they need first and support especially if they suffer from chronic illnesses. Medicare Recovery is a health services offering business venture that is communally based. Therefore its main client will be the patient from hospital at home recovering or people with special needs such as the elderly and the physically as well as mentally handicapped. As a service, we shall be directly in contact with our clients, attending to them precisely from their homes. This is because we acknowledge the fact that these people will do well if they are monitored in the presence of their loved ones (Han, Thurmon & Wu 26). Moreover knowing that there are no extra bills for bed as would be the case in the hospitals will keep them relaxed. We shall however provide additional holding capacity in our offices so as to accommodate for those who might not desire to stay in their homes or the clients who may need special observation and facilities that may not be availed at their homes. The service center will also have an emergency

The Two Faced Salieri :: essays research papers
ââ¬Å"Now a madness began in me. The madness of a man splitting in halfâ⬠. Even though this was uttered by Salieri, itââ¬â¢s our life! And yet we still donââ¬â¢t know whatââ¬â¢s in it. You might not notice, but everyone in this world has two sides, one dark and the other light. The quote above also has two sides. On one hand he was a noble court composer, on the other hand he was really evil and was filled up with jealousy. Did Salieri control his two different sides or did he believe in one side and invaded the other? In the following few paragraphs, I am going to prove to you how Salieri was a two faced person. Salieri was a noble, decent and a mature person. After his father died, God gave him what he needed and made him a court composer for the Emperor. He was simply a model of virtue for other people. ââ¬Å"I kept my hands off womanâ⬠. This was said by Salieri and this quote also proves that he was respectful and an honored person. ââ¬Å"Teaching students, many of them for free, sitting on endless committees to help poor musiciansâ⬠. This quote was also said by the court composer Salieri. This quote tells all of us that he was a really nice person and didnââ¬â¢t want anything in return because God gave him what he needed the most. ââ¬Å"Let me celebrate your glory through musicâ⬠. This shows us that he was very dedicated to his religion and to God. ââ¬Å"I was the most successful musician in Viennaâ⬠. Salieri was really happy when he knew he was the greatest composer of Vienna but when ever there is a good time for a person, there is also a bad. Salieriâ⠬â¢s evil side took over part of his good side and this all happened when he arrived. The most famous composer named Mozart. Salieri like everyone else also had a bad side. He was really jealous when Mozart took over his dreams. Mozart was also a composer and he became well known in Vienna through his music. When Salieri first saw Mozart he thought how can such a vulgar man create such great music. Salieri was really mad at God for making such a disgusting and a dirty minded person such a great composer.

Law describing and evaluating the roles of the courtroom work group Essay
A court room work group is a term referring to professionals that serve in the court on a daily basis. These professionals include a prosecutor, the criminal defence attorney and the judicial officer. The courtroom working group seeks to bring justice to all. It ensures that all parties are accorded due fairness and equal opportunity regardless of gender, race, age, religious affiliation nor any other factor. They also see to it that trials are completed successfully. The concept of court room working group is associated with plea bargaining. The courtroom working group has shown tremendous explanatory power in overburdened courts dealing with huge case loads. Describing and Evaluating Roles of Courtroom Work Group Professionals that serve in the court, each have a commitment to oversee a successful trial completion. Due to this commitment they must each follow a strict code of ethics and also they must adhere to the law and its practice. In most cases however, the number of judges and attorneys is limited hence there is a possibility that a personal as well as professional relation that may stem up. However this must not be prioritised by either of the parties involved and the pursuit of justice must always remain the order of the day. The changes I would recommend are rising of the bar when it comes to security measures. The reason why I suggest this is because sometimes violent criminal offenders may take advantage of the courtroom environment and cause havoc inside the court. For example in the past there was a reported case whereby an offender grabbed an officerââ¬â¢s pistol and started shooting randomly in the courtroom. Safety measures should be put in place in order to curb such bizarre scenarios in the future. The role of the prosecutor is to represent the rights of the citizens. This is assumed to be so because a crime is defined as an act or omission which constitutes an offence punishable by law. Hence, when an offender is presented in court, the charges levelled against him read, Republic or State vs defendant. Therefore the role of the prosecutor is to represent the peopleââ¬â¢s cases against the defendant. With that role comes great responsibility on him, in that the burden of proof automatically lies with him. Also he has to work hard to ensure that evidence is presented legally, and the state procedures are adhered to in a way that dismissal is avoided. Another role of the prosecutor is that he acts as a consultant and advisor to the police departments. He assists them in the course of investigations and also provides insight into the acquisition of evidence and the procedural element of it. A prosecutor usually decides which case to pursue based on the fact that whether they think they can prove beyond reasonable doubt that a defendant is guilty of an offense (Herrmann, Joachim, p. 468). They achieve this by firstly studying in a detailed manner the charges levelled against the defendant. Also he must examine the corresponding evidence presented which includes any testimonials or witnesses and any other material fact that may affect his case. After accomplishing this task he has a more insightful view of the case and is best able to make an informed decision. At this juncture he may decide to file the case or drop the charges and recommend lesser sentences for the defendants who agree to plead guilty to a certain crime: a process that is referred to as plea bargaining (Heumann, 1977). If the criterion for taking a case was more stringent, many cases would be dismissed due to lack of concrete evidence. This is because majority of the cases brought to the court have circumstantial evidence but with great eyewitness testimony. If the criterion was less stringent on the other hand, the court system would be overburdened with cases lacking sufficient evidence and support, hence resulting in less attention being accorded to cases that urgently require it. The criminal justice system has been defined as resembling a funnel that is, being wide at the top and being narrow at the bottom. This is interpreted to mean that there are more suspects and defendants in the justice system than there are convicted offenders who have successfully passed through the correctional system. The criminal justice system has a number of processes that an offender goes through, beginning with the investigation process and ending with the release of a convicted individual from a correctional facility. As criminals pass through the criminal justice system, quite a number of cases are dismissed due to a variety of reasons one being the lack of sufficient evidence. Discretion is another effect brought about by the criminal justice funnel. Many of the cases in the criminal justice system are investigated, tried or dismissed purely on the basis of personal choices. These choices are made by persons who use discretion to decide on individual cases. Also police officers may decide whether to conduct investigations on a case or to just go ahead and make an arrest of the suspect, again based on personal choice. Whereas on the other hand, attorneys and judges also interpret information to decide on the bail applications and plea bargains (Hermann Joachim, p. 468). Unreported cases is also another factor emerging form this system. A number of crimes go unreported for a variety of reasons and this allows the offenders of such crimes go off Scott free and mingle with other people in the society. This adds to the ever growing number of cases that do not make their way into the early stages and final stages of the criminal justice system. Case backlog means that the defendants have to wait longer in order to get a verdict on the case. It means t the defendant has to remain as a suspect for a prolonged period. Some of the offenders that are held in custody are there because simply the offenses they committed can not be granted bail and other offenders are there because they have been unable to post bail. This backlog also inhibits the justice process by helping offenders get away with their crimes. This is especially evident where case requires immediate analysis of evidence (Daly, 2011).

Me Versus the Bachelor Degree In Business 2019
Liberal arts majors and business majors are like oil and vinegar. They dont exactly blend well together, but for some reason when you combine the two they are absolutely fantastic. I learned this my final year of college when I moved into the sorority house and instantly bonded with my business major roommate, Jenny. I was an English major and the two of us were intermingled with several other girls with varying interests and educational pursuits. But for some reason, while Jenny and I were the most different, we ended up becoming almost the same. I was messy and artistic, Jenny was organized and, I hate to admit it, a little sterile. She liked things where she liked them and anything out of place was sure to trigger a conniption. She instantly made our bills into an Excel spreadsheet and wrote out invoices each month to each housemate for their share of the gas, water, andfrozen waffles? Down to our grocery shopping, she inventoried everything and left me awestruck and wondering, Who does things like that?! .ue07974ce2316b4c31673738ef1420cdb { padding:0px; margin: 0; padding-top:1em!important; padding-bottom:1em!important; width:100%; display: block; font-weight:bold; background-color:#eaeaea; border:0!important; border-left:4px solid #34495E!important; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); text-decoration:none; } .ue07974ce2316b4c31673738ef1420cdb:active, .ue07974ce2316b4c31673738ef1420cdb:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; text-decoration:none; } .ue07974ce2316b4c31673738ef1420cdb { transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; } .ue07974ce2316b4c31673738ef1420cdb .ctaText { font-weight:bold; color:inherit; text-decoration:none; font-size: 16px; } .ue07974ce2316b4c31673738ef1420cdb .post Title { color:#000000; text-decoration: underline!important; font-size: 16px; } .ue07974ce2316b4c31673738ef1420cdb:hover .postTitle { text-decoration: underline!important; } READ Information Technology Services Helping You Meet The Bottom LineApparently a lot of people as I met many business majors during my college years. And for some uncanny reason, they were always the ones that I hit it off with the most. My quirkiness meshed together with their straight man personality. My creativity was enhanced by their organization, and while it seems as if our worlds would collide, they seldom did. There were a few times that we butted heads, when my dance team crashed the house and we kept the karaoke machine on a little too loud a little too late. Jenny would throw herself into a tirade about her 8 am accounting final and couldnt we PLEASE just keep it down a bit? (Answer: no, but we will pretend to try.) And there were times I left the half eaten bowl of macaroni on the stove top and Jenny found it before I remembered I had left it there. (Truth: it was usually about three days later.) But all in all, we became the best of friends. My carefree outlook softened her anal retentive views toward college and life. Her orderly conduct encouraged me to be more responsible with money and especially with sleep. I started to value going to class more, and learned that there was more to get out of college than just the degree. The funny thing is that in a different way, I taught her that as well. .u49b83d0ee98d99f7d06b441bd260d0f1 { padding:0px; margin: 0; padding-top:1em!important; padding-bottom:1em!important; width:100%; display: block; font-weight:bold; background-color:#eaeaea; border:0!important; border-left:4px solid #34495E!important; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); text-decoration:none; } .u49b83d0ee98d99f7d06b441bd260d0f1:active, .u49b83d0ee98d99f7d06b441bd260d0f1:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; text-decoration:none; } .u49b83d0ee98d99f7d06b441bd260d0f1 { transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; } .u49b83d0ee98d99f7d06b441bd260d0f1 .ctaText { font-weight:bold; color:inherit; text-decoration:none; font-size: 16px; } .u49b83d0ee98d99f7d06b441bd260d0f1 .post Title { color:#000000; text-decoration: underline!important; font-size: 16px; } .u49b83d0ee98d99f7d06b441bd260d0f1:hover .postTitle { text-decoration: underline!important; } READ From IT School to an IT CareerI learned from rooming with Miss BA in Business that sometimes the people the most unlike us are the ones that we are destined to enjoy and cherish the most in life.
